If I Can Only

If I can only speak two words
Let them be "Thank You"
To all the souls who have taught me how to live

If I can only move one part of my face
Let them be my lips
To smile upon the blessings which have chanced upon me

If I can only give one thing
Let them be my question
To realize that answers are there all along

If I can only feel one emotion
Let them be love
To let me know that all is supreme

More than Walls

Walls.
To some, they exist to create a sense of boundaries.
To some, they can be blank pieces of canvas to be filled with works of arts.

Just 15 years ago, I used to decorate my walls in my bedroom with super tacky posters. Alright, I know "15 years" is not "just" anymore! But it does feel like yesterday .. OK. I lied. It feels like donkey years ago. The years in between must have been too awesome that the past seems so far away.

I can't believe I used to have posters of artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Thinking about it now makes me cringe. Hmm ... what else did I have? After I came to Singapore, I think there were some movie posters. Then, my choices evolved to some motivational pieces. One of them stuck on the common fridge now. Oops. And now I downgraded to simply a post card. This one. (And it will be so obvious why it is there once you noticed whose words they belong to .....)

Now, wall art is not just limited to wall paper and posters anymore. They are not just to decorate but it can also use to make a statement such as the following one that I adore. Spotted at Salvador Dali - Mind of A Genius Exhibition at ArtScience Museum, Singapore. Imagine putting that on your front door! :p

I wonder if I have the choice, what will I do with my wall? I think I will get one super big painting that bamboozle the mind. Frida? Too depressive. Dali? Too exciting. Or better still, I will get a very big screen then when I feel like it, I will change what is being shown. (But that's so not "green". I may die from all the invisible emissions) -_-" Bleah ...

Enough of dreaming about walls. I wonder why there's even a need for a wall. No walls. Just a splendid view of something like this will be awesome. Merci.

How about you? What will you choose to be on your wall?

Duckies

This post is dedicated to someone who has been reading my blog (and vice versa) and bothers to leave comment once in a while. Nothing important or deep, it's just that, when I took these photos, people thought I was crazy. But come on ... with a first name like mine ... you think people can't give me a nickname that ends with the word "duck"? It comes so naturally, okay! Since I was 3 years old! -_-"

So ... Subconsciously, anything duckie-looking, attracts me. And I snapped these photos quite sometimes ago (to be exact 8 Aug 2009) and didn't think I will use them ever. Purely for personal collections. But since I just realized someone just changed her blog background to duckies ... I think it's appropriate I dedicate this post to my fellow stinger!

Thanks for reading my blog and bothers to pop by once in while too :) Hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do. Does any of them catch your attention? Hehe ...

And Then There Are Others

And then there are others
Who are richer than me
With houses and cars
Where all simply sparks

And then there are others
Who are smarter than me
With brains and wits
Where all simply clicks

And then there are others
Who are more successful than me
With status and careers
Where all simply glitters

And then there are others
Who are hungry and beaten
With fear and trials
Where all simply dies

And then there is me
Who are not others
With freedom and choices
Where all uniquely lives

Yes, This is Really Me

I know it's been really long since I last wrote. If you've read the latest post on my Quote's Blog, you'll find out, I've made a promised to a friend that I've to blog or if not, I'll be his lunch -.-" Geez. So here I am ... going to "flood" your mailbox with minimum 3 posts for today. And, this will be counted as one post. A really really really short "intro" that I'm still alive and yes, I'll write more.

Now, I really need to scratch my head really hard to think of what to write. Aih .... See ya soon.

My Friend, Fancy

This humble poem is dedicated to my dearest flatmate, Fancy. She's my MSN, Plurk, Facebook, Friendster, hanging-out, anything-goes kind of buddy. (We can do all those all at the same time, next to each other too). So, it's time for me to do something "nice" to her.

*Evil laughter*

Here we go ...

My Friend, Fancy

Her name is Fancy
Her nick is Panci
Her beau is Franky
Her car is Suzuki

Her mind’s quite blurry
But she ain’t a dummy
She thinks she’s groovy
We think she’s "clownie"

Her blood is AB
Her jokes are crappy
Her life is funny
But never lonely

That’s my friend Fancy
Who is quite lovely
Even though she's silly
Still a GREAT company

A Cuppa For You

One of my plurk buddy from Outback, Australia - Peter "Dingobarbie" Willowtree has just gave me a cuppa coffee and I'd like to share it with everyone since the coffee looks like me (especially with the two front teeth. it just needs glasses to complete the DD look). So, here you go. Hope you'll have a great day ahead and enjoy the monkey coffee.

Pisang Goreng

It means "fried banana", is something I happened to share to a new friend, Linda (USA) whom I've known from Plurk. (Thanks to Myrna now I'm having so much fun and friends on Plurk. :D).

She was sharing that she had plenty of bananas and not sure what to do about it. So, I suggested she fried them and they'll become tasty snacks. I can't believe she actually did it though not exactly the Indonesian Pisang Goreng, but she put some twists in it.

And what's even more marvelous, she's a video blogger and she recorded the whole process of how she's making it. Isn't she cool?

Do check out her work titled "Fried Banana" here - http://thedesertnut.blogspot.com/2008/08/fried-banana.html

And hope everyone enjoys this little dancing banana too, especially Panci. Her tummy needs it very much.

Boo!

I sincerely apologize for being missing for quite sometimes. Didn't realize that till I got some spanking to wake me up from my blogless world.

So here I am not fully charged yet but I shall write in this post what has been happening for the last few weeks.

The activities:
  1. I took 8 days leave after long thought and some zen session with "a master"
  2. I am loving my French lessons (it's my 6th week now), haven't felt so passionate about something for the longest time
  3. I bought a Macbook on impulse (though I don't know how to use one at all)
  4. I watched free jazz performance @ Esplanade on impulse
  5. I test-drove a Suzuki Swift a day before my test
  6. I passed my driving test and test-drove 2 more cars straight after that
  7. I watched my friend performing live in a piano concert
  8. I stood for almost 3 hours watching the dancing sky
  9. I went to Bintan alone for 3 days 2 nights and even so, that's not enough
  10. I went for mangrove and firefly tour and for a second thought I could just be ONE with the snakes and alligator in the river
  11. I got myself right down muddy and dirty by riding the all-terrain bike (almost kiss the bushes too) then I went back and busy washing my shoes when all my life I've been avoiding to do that task! -.-"
  12. I went snorkeling and even 2 hours in the sea under the hot sun till my skin peels (yes, still peeling!), still not enough to be amazed with mother nature. And I am glad I met Dory (not the dory fish but the Dory in Finding Nemo)
  13. I witnessed when someone who has religion doesn't necessarily mean he/she knows how to be a decent human being (yes, even though he/she may be a leader in that religious arena)
  14. I met up with my lovely student and found out we both love Gordon Ramsay and gonna save up to eat his cooking one day and pray very hard we both can get to meet him in person
  15. I watched a French fairy tale which was made in the 70s - Peau D'ane - and realize it's not really a story for the children and the French was indeed artistic and creative and make me love the language even more
  16. I experienced how priorities affect someone's behaviour with or without he/she realizes it
  17. I attended a museum tour with a French curator who was explaining about the work of photographer, movie maker, etc - Alain Fleischer and totally at awed at his works
  18. I drank beer and ale and pretended I was The Dark Knight from Batman in the wrongest way ever
  19. I decided to go and watch Diana Krall concert in September. One of the most expensive ticket I've ever bought for concert and looking forward to it
  20. I splurged on a bling2 (.... hmmm ...) how did that happen again? ... Well, I'm an Ah Beng, you see. So, kinda have the inclination towards things that are shiny
  21. I had tough lectures and punches from my "master" as I've been "sleeping" for too long
  22. I had a few mental shifts and attitude shifts
  23. I had quite a few childish moments, literally and internally. Not so good but managed to de-clutter some of my mental blocks
  24. I tried authentic Ipoh Old Town Coffee and it was heavenly
So, those are the activities, but what are my realizations from these period of my life?
  1. Being impulsive is fun if it's properly thought through. Sounds ironic but well, who said you can't think to be impulsive?
  2. Having a laptop is so heavenly for an self-proclaimed internet addict like me! Even though it may not be the lightest gadget around, it's still worth carrying that baby around every where. Though the hunt for power points can be sickening I'm glad my "Mac-qie Bebe" (Yep, that's the name of my Macbook haha) is empowered with very long lasting battery life. 5-6hours when he is in a very good mood. What more can I ask?
  3. Any doses of arts can never do any harm to the soul. Be it a visual or auditory exhibits, it can never do anything wrong to your soul. Just make sure there's balance in everything.
  4. I am falling in love and totally lost in French. Loving every moment of it.
  5. I am constantly grateful I have the best teacher ever in opening the path of my baby steps in the French world. Thank you, Professeur Linda.
  6. A "ME" time is a must. Nothing can compromise that. Nothing! A time solely and purely for yourself with your own thought is much more refreshing than any spa packages that I've ever experienced. Highly recommended.
  7. Losing external things may not be that bad but when you lose yourself, you'd better buckle up.
  8. Quoting from a friend a mine who didn't even realize she has shared an important wisdom is "Priority changes behaviour". Simple and yet profound. Though it was said due to an observations we made on someone else, I have found this wisdom absolutely useful even in my own life. Thank you, Lala, for your uncommon wisdom.
  9. I realized Singapore has so many fun things to do and to your surprise, they are free too. What you need just an eye towards details and curiousity towards what's happening around you is definitely a must. Who said Singapore is small and boring? Then they haven't looked enough yet. God is in the details. (Oprah said one .... :p)
  10. Never give in just because you want to accommodate or please people. If you are not happy in doing it, don't do it. It's your life, not others. No matter how ridiculous it is, just do and be it.
  11. Drink lots of water, though in my case I need to go to the toilet so many times but I think water has an effect not only to your body but to your state of mind.
  12. Be aware of your thoughts at all time ... not easy but it's a must
There may be much more that I haven't shared from all the experiences that I have gathered but so far I hope it's been a good summary.

It's 080808 now and I hope everyone will have a great auspicious day ahead.

Bon week-end!

Graphing Calculator

Has anybody used graphing calculator before? I think I did, in the 90s. I remembered when I just bought it, I felt on the top of the world, as if I had one of the coolest gadget ever. You know, like the mini-computer. So nostalgic.

Though it was supposed to be a high-tech graphing calculator for the high school students, I remember the only graphs I was busy plotting with the calculator was those I've already known. The cosine, sine and tangent. One of them look like "2 mini mountains"! Even that can make people laugh for the whole day. Silly -.-"

Guess how advanced the graphing calculator nowadays, not only they can plot some "mountains" but they were able to make them 3D! You'd be wrong if you think only the engineering and science students will be drooling over such devices, but even the business students are benefiting from such tool too.

If I ever touched one of those again, I think the only graph I can ever plot will be those I've been plotting 10 yrs ago. What a shame! But well, at least "the mountains" and "'the valleys" (that were formed by the graphs sometimes) are pretty entertaining too.

1 Month .....

Can you believe it?
That's exactly the time I took to write a post in my blog?
Geez ... how pathetic that can be?
I'm so sorry, friends, for those of you who've been religiously checking into my site and got disappointed, I sincerely apologize. I've been under the weather when it comes to blogging.

Anyway, I actually have lots to pour out ... but I plan to change the way things are written from now ... thinking of writing poems ...

WHUUUTTTTT?????

Yep, I have the same effect too when I thought about it but I will give it a try from now.
There are so many inspirations everywhere, actually, but sometimes thinking of rambling them down in paragraph makes me laze in my laurel.

Since today is 1st of March, I'll mark it as a new beginning where D.D. will try some new approach in writing. :p I hope you will enjoy it ... I'm trying not to be too Bjork-ish, (You know the whole out-of-this-world type of work) though sincerely I really love her works. She's so creative I just admire her courage to be different and original despite how others may find her simply weird. I'll see what I can do now ... and hope you - my beloved readers - will somehow benefit from my train of thoughts. Thanks for your support. :-)

It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time

I know I'm a bit out-dated by now. It's been popular since early 2000 but only now I'm hooked by it. It's a song that will cheer you up and laugh in the most silly manner. I just gotta share this. :-) And .... it inspires me to eat peanut butter jelly for dinner tonight. :p thanks to my "not-so-dear" friend for introducing this song to me. -.- GGRRR! Anyway he never really reads my blog so heck about him. :p ... enjoy!

Buckwheat Boys - Peanut Butter Jelly Time Lyrics

It's peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time

(Chorus:)
Where he at 4x
There he go 4x
Peanut butter jelly 4x
Do the peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly,
Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat 2x

(Chorus)

Now, break it down and freeze 4x

(Chorus)

Now tic tac toe (uh-huh)
Tic tac toe (let's go)
Tic tac toe (you got it)
Tic tac toe (let's ride)

(Chorus)

Now, freestyle, freestyle, freestyle, freestyle, freestyle, your style 2x

Where he at 4x
There he go 4x

:-)

I know ... I've been absent for a while ... though there are just so many things have been discovered and needs to be shared but .... I've been in such a hibernating mode that my friend called me "Donnuah" .... Nuah because I am super slack ... Nuah ... Nuah ... Nuah ... and that's all I've been doing ... mentally and physically. Euww ... -.-

So, thought of dropping by and leaving a short note and encourage everyone to watch .. Ocean's Thirteen. This is not a movie review post ... and FYI, I didn't have any intention to watch that movie.

Why?

I watched a very bad quality Ocean's 11 ... and didn't have the mood to watch Ocean's 12. But oh boy .... I'm glad I didn't miss Ocean's 13!!!! Not a single blood cell of mine ... Was intrigued by the preview because George Clooney was tearing up and Brad Pitt was teasing him ... Clooney was trying to hide his embarrassing activity that caused him to tear up but Pitt discovered it and oh well, it's Oprah that caused Clooney to have teary eyes. So, that's what I saw in the preview but I didn't expect anything more than that short simple scene.

Who knows, surprise came in such a nice package :-) And for me, Oprah's fan, it made hell of my day. I was high till the next day ... my friends couldn't stand me ... still.

:-)

So, dropping a note to share that hehe ... will pop by when my "nuah" mode has gone ... hopefully soon. Thank you for still having your eyes here once in a while. It means a lot to me. :-)

People Are Selfish

You must be thinking ... what the hell ... this woman has been missing in action for so long and now the title of her first post is people are selfish? Has she just returned from the brink of depression or what?

Haha ... don't worry. I'm fine. :-) I just want to say things that I've been wanting to say for so long, which is the title of this post. I don't mean selfish in a bad way but I can't find what other words to describe people. You may agree or disagree with me. I'm not here to debate. I'm just writing my point of view.

Why do I say that? Because the more I see things ... even the most generous of things in this world, beneath all those are just a hidden motive to make oneself happy / sad / whatever emotion that being chooses at that moment.

Like when you think someone does something nice to you, you think that person is so selfless. But is he/she? Look underneath those, as he/she gives, he/she obtains happiness too. He/she wants to do it in order to fulfill his/her gap of happiness inside the heart. Got what I mean?

Yeah, selfish has one of the most negative connotation I can ever think of. I don't like it that the word means so negatively that it may be just the fundamental character of human being. Nothing bad about it. To put it in a different light, let's simply put, every one secretly is putting themselves first among others. It's not bad either. Because making sure you are okay (as long as you are not harming others), is just the first step of loving yourself. Guess the selfishness I'm trying to point out here is self-love. Hhmmm ...

I'm not writing this to attack anyone who's giving and call them selfish ... I just want to point out that it's just how human is. Don't expect them to be something else because it's a survival skill and gene that we, human beings, have inherited since we were born. And stop being naive that when people are sacrificing something, they are so great and great ... they are just being them ... putting themselves for their own benefits that you may not be able to comprehend. It's just fact of life and nothing bad about it. It is just it is.

Aiyah .....

Have been missing from the scene for quite a while ...
Have been busy as my parents are here ... so, guess you know what the normal routine will be .. eat and talk and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz -.-
I'm here ... will still be a bit quiet this week but like the Terminator said it - I'll be back! ;-).

Have a great day, gals and guys! ;-)
